Exhibits › American Zen › Tarnished Talisman
Traditionally, a talisman is essentially a good luck charm. Its alleged magical powers were supposed to keep its owner safe and prosperous in a precarious world. These bas reliefs are a modern interpretation of an ancient concept.
Technical Notes
The panels are 6x6-inch archival clay-covered boards that are covered with highly textured acrylic modelling pastes and metallic pigmented bronze and gold acrylic inks. The actual talisman is a small cast silver object that is slightly floated above the surface of the panel. The silver was chemically treated to give the metal the appearance of great age.
