Exhibits › American Zen › Lyrical Mandalas
A mandala is generally defined as a “geometric figure representing the universe in Hindu and Buddhist symbolism [or] a symbol in a dream, representing the dreamer's search for completeness and self-unity.”
When an artist does something “lyrical,” it is an expression of beauty created for the viewer’s pleasure.
These images grew spontaneously from the unconscious and speak to a wholeness in our fragmented and chaotic world.
