ExhibitsHumanity & InhumanityRefugees › Refugees Out to Sea

Refugees from all parts of the world must often cross the sea to find safe havens from war, famine, and natural disasters. These three mixed-media collages express the uncertainty and anxiety of being uprooted from one's homeland and transported to a new place. The words “out to sea” are both a metaphor for being swept overboard and the reality of being in-transit on the ocean. These images are a continuation of a print series titled “Refugees by the Shore.”

Technical Notes

The backgrounds are archival digital photographic prints. The pigmented acrylic inks and pencils are lightfast. The mixed-media collages are 8x10 inches.
